Haiti

I was traveling the week of the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti.

I meant to go to museums that weekend and enjoy the area. Instead I stay in my hotel room, glued to the coverage.

As days and weeks and months went by, I couldn’t forget Haiti.

In October 2010, I was privileged to visit Port-au-Prince and volunteer directly with several orphanages. It was a life changing experience.

These photos show children I met in Haiti. They were sweet and loved having their photos taken. They especially enjoyed seeing their faces show up in the display screen of the digital camera.

I still support a number of organizations in Haiti, but one of the best is J/P HRO.

J/P HRO is run by Sean Penn. No pretty-boy actor, Penn has relocated to Haiti and runs the J/P HRO camp in Petionville. It is widely regarded as the best-run camp in Haiti. Best run still means residents live in tents in pouring rain and wind and medicine is limited.

Haiti has stolen my heart. For my birthday, please help J/P HRO make it a better place for these children to grow up.
